The Undergraduate Program

Undergraduate students at the Melbourne Law School can take courses of study in international human rights law taught by staff members who are often international experts in a particular field. There are also opportunities for undergraduate students to attend seminars and lectures presented by visiting scholars in international human rights law, and to be involved in human rights activities. See the Visiting Human Rights Scholars  and Student Activities pages for more information.

Visit the next page for information on human rights subjects on offer in the undergraduate program.

Fergus Green

Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Laws

My interest in human rights law emerged through a curiosity for other cultures and all things ‘international’, an interest which was fostered in part through my study and travel in China.

Since beginning my undergraduate law studies, I have had a number of opportunities to study human rights law and be involved in human rights activities. I undertook an internship at the Human Rights Law Resource Centre Ltd (HRLRC) in July 2006, during which time I was the Editor of the Centre’s Human Rights Law Resource Manual — a comprehensive guide to international and domestic human rights law and lawyering.

Since completing my internship, I have continued to be involved with the HRLRC as a volunteer and I have contributed to the Centre’s monthly HRLRC Bulletin. I have also been able to consolidate and expand on the knowledge and experience I gained during my internship through my ongoing study of international law and international relations, and through my editorship of the Melbourne Journal of International Law.
